At SPS/Drives 2011 in Nuremberg TI introduced the AM3359 device, an embedded ARM Cortex-A8 processor with a dedicated subsystem for implementing multiple real-time Ethernet protocols used in industrial automation. In this video we provide highlights of the device block diagram, show the available hardware development boards and run the 2-axis motor control demo featuring TI embedded processors for PLC-, GUI- as well as EtherCAT master and slave applications. The small form-factor and low cost Industrial Communication Engine (ICE) evaluation board is revealed as a new platform for implementing gateway and sensor applications with industrial interfaces such as CAN, EtherCAT, SERCOS III, PowerLink or PROFINET.
